Santana sighed and sat down. She was shaking and still crying, quietly though. She took a deep breath and kept her eyes on the floor while she waited to hear something from the doctors. She hadn’t been this freaked out in a long time and she didn’t even know what to do with herself. She didn’t even know where Tay was or if he was coming back. That kind of freaked her out more. She wiped her face and smeared some more blood across her face. She should probably get cleaned up, but she didn’t want to leave and then have the doctors come back and her not be there.
Tamen finished his cigarette and then collected himself before returning to Santana. By the time he reached her, he had regained his normal, cold demeanor. “I will have Vincent move the guns into a safe.” He muttered as he stood next to Santana. The worst thing about this was that he wanted to punish someone, but there wasn’t anyone to blame but himself. His eye twitched in irritation just a little as the doctor came out. “Your son is going to be fine. You can see him. He’s on pain killers.” The doctor spoke quickly in Italian, but he knew Santana had a hang of it by now. They went into his room, and Silas immediately reached his good arm out. “Mami.” He sniffled and his lip trembled. Tamen stayed by the wall, crossing his arms. He was so relieved that Silas was going to be okay, but he wasn’t a very touchy feely person.
Santana picked up Nez only to had her off to Vincent when he came into the room, she let the paramedics in like Tay had told her to and then gripped onto his hand tightly while they got into the back of the ambulance. Silas was still crying as they sat down in the back, she let Tay do the talking while she held onto her baby boy’s hand hoping that he would calm soon. She had to force herself to be calm even though she was scared as hell and kind of pissed. She didn’t even know who she was mad at she was just mad that this had even happened. It wasn’t long before they were rushing into the hospital and Silas was being taken away from them, she missed what they had said she had been so focused on her son. “What are they doing? Is he going into surgery?” She asked turning to Tay.
Tamen stood in the emergency room, watching Silas getting wheeled away. He didn’t want to admit that he was really fucking worried. The twins had his last name, and okay they had grown on him over the years. “I assume they are taking him to some kind of trauma room and then to surgery.” He said, his voice coming out flat. Looking down at his hands, which had blood on them, he shook his head and decided to go find a smoking area so he could calm down. Seeing Silas like that reminded him of his own little brother who had been hit by a car so many years ago. “Stay here.”
Santana’s heart stopped seeing the blood and her crying son gripping his shoulder. She went to his side kissing his temple and holding onto his bloody hand, “I know it hurts baby, it’s gonna be okay.” Her words didn’t help his tears, but she did her best to be comforting. She looked up at Tay and nodded rushing back down the steps to get her phone. She dialed 112 and waited for someone to answer her call, she spoke quickly in Italian practically yelling at the person on the other end. She ended the call and turned towards the steps only stopping because Christopher was looking up at her appearing just as panic and scared as she felt. “Your brother has to go to the hospital, but he’s going to be okay.” He lifted his arms up towards her, she sighed picking him up and carrying him up the steps, but setting him down before she got back into the office, “I want you to go find Mr. Nero and Nik okay?” His lip quivered, but he nodded and went in that direction. Once he was gone she turned back towards the office. “The ambulance is on it’s way.”
Tamen pulled his jacket off and made Silas let go of his shoulder, quickly moving to press it against the wound so it wouldn’t bleed as badly. Nereza had finally realized what she did was wrong and started crying. As soon as Santana came in the room, she ran over towards her, reaching up as she wailed. “Go let them in when they get here!” He shouted over the crying and yelling before turning back to Silas. It didn’t take long before the paramedics were coming into the room. Vincent was standing in the doorway, crossing his arms and looking about as worried as everyone else. "Chris is with Nik in his room, sir." Tamen nodded. “Take Nez too.” He said as they walked out and Tamen gripped Santana’s hand while they hurried towards the ambulance.
Santana sat at the edge of the pool closer to them this time, she didn’t say anything about what had just happen, that wasn’t something she wanted to talk about in front of the kids. She was worried about Nez getting into that kind of thing, she was like her father though even at such a young age, and if she kept going like that she doubted she would have a choice in the matter. Sliding out of the pool when everyone else did she slid her sandals on and wrapped a towel around her waist. “Wash your hands and actually use soap!” She called after them as they ran up the steps. She could hear the groaning, but she knew they would listen. She would head up the steps in a moment to get changed too, but at the moment she really wanted a cigarette. She dug one out of her purse lighting it she brought it to her lips and took a long drag. Upstairs the kids were getting dressed and cleaned up, they did it quickly, Chris was the first one down, Nez and Silas stayed upstairs. Silas was dragged into Tay’s office by his little sister, she wanted to see if she could find one of his guns, she had such a one tracked mind and right now she was stuck on what she had seen Tamen doing. Santana finished off her cigarette fairly quickly, putting it out in a near ashtray. She turned to say something to Tay, but she was cut off by the sound of a gun going off followed by Silas screaming. “Oh god.” She ran up the stairs faster than she could even think.
Tamen walked inside and grabbed a cigar from the counter, taking in the smell of dinner that the cook was making. He cut the end off and lit it, taking in a deep puff before blowing the smoke out of his nose. When there was a gunshot, he sat the cigar down and took off after Santana. The first thing he saw when he went into his office was blood on the floor, then his eyes moved to Silas, who was laying on the floor crying and holding his shoulder. “Nereza.” Tamen said, hurrying over to her and taking the gun from her. “What were you thinking?” She was smiling, but it fell away. "I wanted to be like you, Daddy." She pouted at him. “You never touch these!” He shouted and put it back in his desk, slamming the drawer shut. Nez started to cry, but Tamen ignored her, moving over to Silas. “Santana go call an ambulance.” He grabbed a jacket and pressed it to Silas’s shoulder.
The boys climbed out of the pool and took off in one direction while Nereza ran in the direction Tay had gone, she was giggling her little head off which was one reason why she wasn’t actually mad at them for splashing her. Santana plucked Nez up from the ground just as Tamen was pulling the trigger, she blinked a couple of times. She wasn’t surprised by that kind of thing anymore, but she didn’t want her kids being subjected to it. "Can I do that?" Nez asked excitedly. “No, let’s go back to the pool.” She turned and started walking towards the water, all the while Nereza was whining in her ear about how what daddy was doing was more fun.
Tay handed the gun to one of his men and took off towards Santana and Nereza. He caught up with them at the pool and then took Nez from Santana. "Daddy I wanna do what you was doing." She said excitedly, grinning up at him. He gave Santana a small apologetic look before shaking his head. “You’re too young.” Was all he said before sliding back into the water with her as Silas and Chris ran and jumped back into the pool. He did wonder who was going to take over for him someday, and to be honest, he would rather it be Nereza than the boys. Of course he hadn’t brought that up to Santana since he would rather avoid an argument. Soon it was getting late, and Tamen climbed out of the pool, grabbing a towel. “Go upstairs and get dressed for dinner.” He told the kids before they all ran off.
Santana rolled her eyes at Tay as she picked up a towel and wiped off her face. She watched him walk away before turning to Silas, “Go play with your sister.” She plucked off his hat and held out her hand for his flip-flops. He whined, but Santana didn’t give him a chance to say anything before she pushed him into the pool. He sputtered a little when he came up for air, he glared at her, but swam towards Nez. Her eyes flicked towards Tamen and his men, she couldn’t hear what they were talking about, but by facial expression alone she could tell something was up. Suddenly the three kids splashed her soaking her from head to toe, she blinked a couple of times, “I’m going to get you.” With that they screamed and scattered.
Tamen crossed his arms over his chest as his men whispered to him that they found the one in their group that was working for Giordano. They had been going at each other for years, but neither had come close to getting rid of the other. He clenched his jaw as they led him out of sight from the pool and Vincent brought the traitor down to his knees. “Were you the one that set up the attack on my family? Rispondetemi.” The man nodded and Tay punched him in the nose. "Mi dispiace." Curling his lip, Tay held out his hand for Vincent’s gun and then screwed a silencer on it. “I want you to send his head to Giordano.” He muttered as he placed the tip of the silencer against the man’s forehead and pulled the trigger. "Wow!" He stopped and turned, seeing Nez getting scooped up by Santana.
Santana sat at the edge of the pool her toes barely touching the cool water, she had her hat and shades on, but she was keeping a watchful eye on Tay, Nereza, and Christopher. They were on the other side of the pool, the boys were teaching Nez how to swim and she seemed to be having fun. "Mami." Her eyes flicked down to Silas who was sitting beside her in his blue trunks and matching hat. He was being kind of sulky, being outside wasn’t his favorite thing in the world. He would rather sit upstairs drawing or reading a book. If she hadn’t given birth to him she would wonder if he was actually hers. "Can I go back inside yet?" She rolled her eyes, “No.” He huffed and pouted, but didn’t make a motion to move. She should be enjoying this moment, it was quiet and her family was together. This kind of thing didn’t happen all that often, Tamen was busy a lot with work, but he did make time for her and the kids. She was just glad this ongoing war with Giordano had quieted down a bit. Santana glanced up hearing some splashing, she saw Chris getting out of the pool, she raised a brow watching him coming towards her. "Mami I’m showing Nez how to do a cannonball." She opened her mouth to tell him to stop, but it was too late. He ran and jumped into the water splashing both her and Silas. “God dammit.” She muttered wiping water out of her face. "Now can I go?" Silas spoke again.
Tamen put his arms under Nez as she doggy paddled across the water. "Daddy! I’m doing it!" He smiled and nodded as he moved with her. “You are. You could be an Olympic athlete.” He glanced at Santana and Silas before rolling his eyes a little. Silas always hated being outside for some reason. Tay was definitely closer to Christopher, but he was hard on both of them. Santana had a tenancy to baby Silas, though. "Daddy can I show her how to do a cannonball?" Tamen looked over at Chris and nodded. “Yeah but make sure you do it by your mom and Si.” He scooped up Nez and let her sit on his shoulders as they watched Chris. They both laughed and Nez clapped when they both got splashed. “No you can’t go.” Tay said as he walked over to where they were. “We’re having family time and you are going to like it.” He sat Nez on the ground next to them and she tugged on Silas’s arm. “Come on Si, swim with me. Please.” She pouted at him as Tamen looked up and saw his men walking towards him. “What?” They said he needed to take care of something, so he pushed himself out of the pool and followed them to the side of the house.
